Dave Steffen gave a great presentation on networking emphasizing IP protocols.   

Business meeting

El Presidente, Bruce Weimer, reminded us that election of new club officers will be next month. Classroom for next month will be a presentation on working with ABS plastics to create robot parts.

The annual talent contest will be held next month (December),  

January will have a Tin Can Picking up Contest.  Draft rules for this contest will be available on the sdrs-list .  The basic idea will be to pick up tin cans and move them to a dropoff area.

Show and Tell

There was a 5 minute CD showing videos from the the DARPA urban challenge.

Martin Mason took the “giveaway” bot from last month and modified it to provide remote control and control using  RoboRealm vision software.

Alex Brown showed some pictures and videos from the RoboDevelopment Expo in San Jose recently.

Steven Gentner had more pictures from RoboDevelopment including the Hanson Robotics humanoid animated faces.  

Also Steve had the first copy of the Surveyor robot which he picked up on the way to the Expo.  He gave a demonstration of the Surveyor using RoboRealm to follow square colored marks on the floor.

Martin Mason showed a RoboSapien 2 which is noted is available for just $100 with free shipping (I didn’t catch WHERE!).
